1) How to Get Anything You Want By Thee Ambitious Woman
Can I just be real for a second? The title alone piqued my interest to want to read what is within this book!!
This book is written for women who have big audacious goals.
It will help you identify what your true values are, what your soft and hard goals are, and what mental or physical blocks (called fear, flaw, failure in the book) are holding you back so you can learn what you need to do to overcome and achieve your dreams.
It also stresses the importance of setting 30-60-90-day goal-setting schedules.
Finally, what I love most about this goal-setting book is that it’s concise (140 pages) with a bonus printable workbook, so it’s all value and no fluff. As such, you can’t go wrong with this book.
This goal setting book got 4.6 stars on Amazon, so I definitely recommend that you check this out here…
2) Your Best Year Ever By Michael Hyatt
The next top book about goal setting is Your Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt.
If you struggle to finish what you start, then this book is perfect for you.
One reviewer has called this book the “Quitter Book” because Hyatt bursts your bubble on every excuse, challenges your mindset, puts your past in its proper place, and gives you the fuel you need to go after your dreams once more.
This book breaks down its goal-setting method called “SMARTER” and provides many stories and examples to drive each goal post point home. Like “How to Get Anything You Want”, you can find Your Best Year Ever on Amazon, here.
3) The Most Powerful Woman in the Room is You Lydia Fenet
If you have dreams to land a huge job or grab an executive seat at the table of big corporate America, then this book is for you.
It’s not quite the goal setting book you’d imagine with the “SMART” principles laid out. It’s an invitation to learn the skills needed to become the person who gets what they want.
Fenet will also remind you that you don’t need permission from anyone to go after your dreams and goals. You can and must advocate for yourself, and she empowers you to do so through her own inspiring story.
The only critical thing I found from people who read and did not enjoy the book is the fact that Fenet talks about herself a lot and her book reads almost like an autobiography.
As such, if you’re the type of person that only wants the points, no back story, this may not be the book for you.
But if you’re someone that gets motivated to take action by reading someone’s real-life story, then you’ll love this book. You can find this book about goal setting on Amazon here.
4) Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived Joyful Life by Dave Evans
This book is about goal-setting but has a refreshingly different approach to achieving your goals. It teaches you to think of your dreams as a goal that starts out as a problem that you need to solve.
You must go through the process of solving the problem before you, then the next problem, and then the next problem, and then before you know it, you’ll design the life that you want.
Finally, this book is timeless. No matter where you are in your life, the principles in this book can guide you. Find this book about goal setting on Amazon here.
5) Big Dreams Daily Joys by Elise Blaha Cripe
If you’ve tried every self-help goal setting book known to man but have made little progress on your goals, give Big Dreams Daily Joys a try.
Rather than give you a one-size-fits-all goal-setting method, Elise gives you several ideas and suggestions for:
- overcoming procrastination
- finding the courage to work
- improving productivity.

6) 30-Day Productivity Plan by Damon Zahariades
Do you often put things off, lose your focus, and fail to finish what you started?
Then this book is for you!
This book will help you curb bad habits that are causing you to lose your focus, procrastinate, and prevent you from becoming more productive.
This book does this by identifying which habits are hampering your productivity and gives you real action steps you can take to overcome the habit.
You’ll also learn how to create systems to get your recurring responsibilities done and on time.

7) Atomic Habits by James Clear
If your bad habits keep getting the best of you and you want to take a deeper dive into learning how you can curb those habits, then I recommend getting Atomic Habits over the 30-day Productivity Plan.
Atomic Habits will take a deeper look at your behaviors, help you understand why you make the choices you make, and help you build better habits by making small improvements each day. Furthermore, you’ll learn better systems that will help you be more productive in the short and long term.
If I’m being honest, Atomic Habits is arguably one of the best books for achieving goals. As such, I highly recommend buying this book for setting goals, which you can easily get on Amazon here.
8) Start Ghetto: No-Nonsense Goal Setting for Self-Help Haters by La Tetra O.
Do you struggle with self-sabotaging thoughts that prevent you from starting or following through on your goals? If so, then you should check out this really good book on goal setting!!!
This book gets straight to the point, no b.s., with actionable lessons on goal setting and planning.
This book also includes prompts to help you reflect on your sabotaging thoughts and write out positive affirming truths that will counter those beliefs and thoughts.
As one reader says, this book is a “gentle slap of encouragement” that will help you start wherever you are.
You can find this wonderful goal planner book on Amazon here.
9) Dirty Goals: Breaking Conventional Rules to Achieve Your Dreams by Alyn Mitylng
Wondering what’s “dirty” about this book? Me too!
That’s why I clicked on it when I was doing my research for the best books on goal setting and found (to my relief) that it doesn’t mean anything inappropriate.
This book encourages you to “get your hands dirty” on a goal. Whoo! lol.
Dirty Goals differ from other books you might read by giving you an unconventional approach to accomplishing your goals. Dirty goals will help you:
- identify what your goals are
- give you a breakdown of the unspoken reasons why people fail and,
- what to do to get back on track.
You’ll also receive incredible pep talks as, according to one book reviewer, the author provides a lot of support and coaching through her words.
If you need a reset and some encouragement, I highly recommend that you start with this goal setting book, also on Amazon.
10) Go! How to Get Going and Achieve Your Goals and Dreams At Any Age by Marica K. Morgan
Don’t have trouble setting goals but need an extra push to actually DO the work? This is your book!
Written for women who often put their dreams on hold, let them slip away, or try to adjust their dreams to fit their circumstances, this book will give you the courage and motivation to take your dream head on!
Through four (4) guided steps, you’ll be asked to:
- think about what matters most to you
- set goals to help you move forward on your goal
- identify what resources you need to meet your goal, and
- create a physical “GO” object that symbolizes what you want and give you the motivation to go after the goal.
One big note though:
If you appreciate visualizations, you’ll appreciate the fourth step. If you’re not a fan of repetitive visualizing, however, then this book may not be for you.
Check out this goal setting book on Amazon if you want a closer look.
